Hello! I’m Ben!
I work with kids for a living…. I drive a school bus, I take the kiddos to recess at our elementary school, I've worked in daycares, and just all things kids. I love it and I take pride in it. More than most people would understand, it gives me a sense of duty and responsibility and its very gratifying. Those kids make me happy and keep my day full of surprises. Not a huge fan of other adults though but you'll have that ;) But that’s just one version of me, one my local district and community know. Its the version people see in public…. but
The other version is the guy hauling home CRTs like it’s a dying religion.
WHO I AM
Im still figuring it out, but I like CRTs
CRTs?
Yeah big, heavy, glass-screen monsters that everyone else threw out without thinking twice. 100+lbs….beige….dirty….ugly… From vintage computers to old CRT TVs. I drag them into my house, line them up, clean them, fix them, and study them. Not because it’s trendy but because it’s fun for some weird reason. These things had a life before me. They were in someone’s bedroom, someone’s office, someone’s childhood. Now they’re here, getting a second chance at life instead of getting crushed into a landfill.
That’s what my archive is about. Not fake nostalgia. Not “look at this aesthetic.” I actually own this stuff. I test them, I repair them, and I will document them. Honestly im a bit obsessed.
At any given time there’s a small army of CRTs scattered between my game room, my hallway, my shed, and wherever else I can physically fit them. Some are perfect. Some are broken. Some are waiting their turn. It’s organized chaos and it brings me joy.
